Peter Hadwen- Director for Africa and the Middle-East at the Parliamentary Center of Canada (PC) Parliamentary Centre – Canada’s Global Leader For Democracy
Peter Hadwen is the Director for Africa and the Middle-East at the Parliamentary Center of Canada (PC) Parliamentary Centre - Canada’s Global Leader For Democracy. Peter leads projects such as the Inclusive Legislatures Gender Responsive Program working in Kenya, Ghana and Togo to support the Parliaments and their MPs and administrator by co-creating new approaches, models and tools for developing legislation, and improving workplace cultures and HR processes.
Most importantly in Kenya the PC team is developing models and tools for digital citizen engagement for ensuring effective evidence-based understanding of the impacts, and building improved budgeting and design of government programs. This is a citizen-centered approach that seeks practical ideas, to “bring the voice of citizens” through objective and unbiased research to meet the requirements of the Public Participation law of Kenya. Most recently in Kisii this approach yielded powerful ideas for increasing awareness and ideas for new programs that can support the MP Dorice Donya for engaging citizens, particularly youth, women and girls about practical solutions that can be sustained. The Parliamentary Center does this through its objective roles in advising Parliaments around the world as a trusted partner.
