Janine Cocker-Global Affairs Canada Head of Cooperation – Kenya, Somalia, Uganda, Rwanda, and Burundi

JANINE COCKER is the Head of Cooperation at the Canadian High Commission in Kenya, covering Kenya, Somalia, Rwanda, Uganda and Burundi. Previous to this position, Janine was Head of Cooperation in Guyana, covering Guyana, Suriname and CARICOM. She has also worked across Africa being posted in Ghana and Zambia with Global Affairs Canada and the Commonwealth. Janine has been a long-standing gender equality advocate having worked as a gender equality specialist with Global Affairs Canada and for women’s rights organizations prior to joining the government. She has a Master’s degree in Poverty and Conflict from the University of Manchester, in the U.K. and an undergraduate degree in sociology from Queen’s University in Canada.
