Diana Gichengo – Executive Director-The Institute for Social Accountabilitys

Diana Gichengo, an Advocate of the High Court, brings a wealth of experience to the governance
and policy advocacy space with a career spanning 14 years. Currently serving as the Executive
Director of the Institute for Social Accountability (TISA) and the Convenor of the Okoa Uchumi
Campaign, she leads a civil society and citizen coalition driving debt and public finance
accountability and justice in Kenya.

A Pan African feminist, Diana has expertise in campaigns focused on social responsibility, human
rights, diversity and inclusion, economic rights, and development, an admirable commitment. Her
strong people management and legislative advocacy skills are evident in her regular commentary
on good governance, public finance management, public debt and taxation, and the rule of law in
Kenya.

She possesses extensive firsthand experience working with marginalized and vulnerable groups,
including women, displaced and stateless persons, gender and sexual minorities, and persons with
disabilities. She has led formidable advocacy initiatives at the county and national levels in Kenya,
within the African Union, and through the United Nations' human rights mechanisms. In Kenya,
she has been at the forefront of pushing major public finance reforms within the National
Assembly.

Diana's influence extends beyond her advocacy work. She serves on the board of the African
Forum and Network on Debt and Development (AFRODAD), a Pan African organization
dedicated to influencing African governments to institute and implement policies for sustainable
development and poverty eradication. In addition, she chairs the Initiative for Equality and NonDiscrimination (INEND), further demonstrating her leadership and commitment to social change.
